NEW JERSEY BROKERS "CORE" COURSE
To obtain a real estate brokers license in New Jersey you are required to be at least 18 years of age, have a high school education or the equivalent, have three years full-time experience under the supervision of a broker immediately preceding the date of application for brokers license, successfully complete 150 hours of instruction in an approved school concurrent with the holding of a salespersons license and pass a state examination. A broker candidate must be a legal resident of the United States, but need not be a citizen. The three-year experience required to qualify for licensure as a broker must be full-time during normal business hours, meaning at least 40 hours per week between the hours of approximately 10 AM to 8 PM any five of seven days in the week. However, no more than 25 hours per week of non-real estate employment may be engaged in during this three-year period.

Real Estate Salesperson Prelicensure Course
This course meets the State Educational requirements for those wishing to qualify for the State Licensing Exam. Students must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent. The NJ Real Estate Commission will conduct a criminal background check on all candidates. Students must complete the 75-hour course and earn a score of 70% or more on the NJ Prep final exam. Students have one year from date of issuance to pass the State exam and file their applications with the Real Estate Commission. Once the certificate expires, the class must be repeated and candidates must pay an additional tuition fee.
